This mind has created both samsara and nirvana

Those who practice Dzogchen must realize perfect presence and awareness and, to that end, must truly have understood their own mind and succeeded in gaining control of it. Otherwise, explanations about presence and awareness will not get results and will amount to little more than ink on paper or topics for intellectual discussion. In the Dzogchen tantra, called Kunjed Gyalpo or The All-creating King, we read: "Mind is the creator of all: samsara and nirvana, therefore know this “all-creating king”! Generally, it is explained that we transmigrate in the impure, illusory vision of samsara, but in reality, it is only…

Aśvaghoṣa: Author of Buddhacarita

During the 1st century of the Common Era, there was a great scholar born in Ayodhya, who had mastered various Sanskrit texts, different philosophies and held a tremendous power of debate. Types of Buddhist Tantra

One of the highest class of Buddhist Tantra-s were known as Anuttarayoga Tantra (Tibetan: bla na med pa'i rgy) meaning Unexcelled Tantra. In the new schools of Tibetan Buddhism it is associated with the mahamudra route to enlightenment. In the Gelug tradition it is believed this Tantras originated from the teachings of the Buddha on how to transform sense pleasures into a quick path of enlightenment, and this in turn depended on the ability of the sadhaka to dissolve the prana into the central channel of awareness by force of concentrated meditation. In the classification of the Dzogchen system, used…

Amoghasiddhi

Tibetan Buddhism originated in the Eastern part of India (Bengal, Bihar) and then shifted to Tibet with the fall and decline of Buddha dharma when Turko-Mongol warriors destroyed their monasteries. In their tradition all paths are finally originated from five dhyānibuddha-s (meditative Buddhas) who control every divine emanation and power that is used to attain to the state of Shunya. Of these five Amoghasiddhi - meaning infallible success - is the lord of the mind that creates ideas, not the mind that reacts to sensations. His consort is Green Tara, and he sits on Garuda, the Divine bird with a…

Diamond that Cuts through Illusion

Once Lord Buddha was sitting in Sravasti after his daily works when a senior monk by the name of Subhūti approached him reverentially and asked, “How, Lord, should one who has set out on the bodhisattva path take his stand, how should he proceed, how should he control the mind?” The Buddha in the ensuing dialogue tells Subhūti that he will bring all living beings into the state of Nirvana, eventually. He then explains that the Bodhisatva does not see things and people from the eye of the changeful self, but from the prism of perfection of understanding that all phenomenon…
